Healthcare Marketplace Open Enrollment Ends Dec. 15

With the ever-changing healthcare landscape, figuring out the right coverage for your needs can be confusing.  Over the last 16 years, the Genesee Health Plan (GHP) has helped more than 70,000 of our Genesee County neighbors, families and friends get connected to health care coverage, resources, programs and tools. In addition to enrolling county residents into GHP, we also have a team of certified Enrollment Specialists that enroll residents into a variety of healthcare programs.

GHP Certified Enrollment Specialists
With the help of our certified Enrollment Specialists, we can assist you in finding the best health care coverage for you and your family. We may enroll you into GHP coverage right away while we assist you in enrolling into other coverages that you may qualify for. GHP coverage includes:

Health Insurance Marketplace (Affordable Care Act)

Open enrollment for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (frequently referred to as “Obamacare”) begins Nov. 1 and ends Dec. 15, 2017. For an individual to have 2018 coverage, they must enroll, find a plan and pay their premium prior to Dec. 15 for coverage to begin January 1, 2018.

Healthy Michigan Plan

The Healthy Michigan Plan began in 2014 and allows the state of Michigan to make health care benefits available to low-income Michigan residents. The plan encourages healthy behaviors, personal responsibility and helps Michigan residents access affordable health coverage. An individual must meet the eligibility criteria to apply. Flint Health Coverage

The state of Michigan also offers health coverage for individuals who consumed water from the Flint water system and lived, worked or received childcare or education at an address that was served by the Flint water system at any time from April 2014 and a date to be determined in the future.  To qualify, an individual must be a pregnant woman, or under age 21, or a child born to a woman who was served by the Flint water system during the specified time period.  For more information about Flint Health Coverage click here.

MiChild/Healthy Kids

MiChild is a health care program provided through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) for children under the age of 19 who have no other health insurance, currently live in Michigan and meet income requirements. MiChild covers a variety of services including doctor visits, emergency visits and more. For more information, visit the MiChild Program website.

Healthy Kids is a program through MDHHS that provides a wide range of health care coverage and support services for qualifying pregnant women, babies and children under age 19. To view the Healthy Kids brochure, click here.
