2020 Census

Genesee Health plan received a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint to educate and encourage our community to complete the 2020 Census.

Every household will receive a letter with an identification number to go online and complete the Census. Completing the Census makes sure you are counted to keep important funding dollars in our community! Learn more below.

  1. What is the Census? Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a census to determine the number of people living in the United States.
  2. Are My Answers Secure And Confidential? By law, census information cannot and will not be shared with any agency. Cyber-security measures have been put in place to keep your information safe and any unlawful release of information is punishable by a $250,000 fine and/or five years in prison.
  3. What Will the Census Ask? The Census asks for less personal information than most social media profiles like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
    1. Name
    2. Gender
    3. Age
    4. Birthday
    5. Race/ethnicity
    6. Relationship to head-of-household
    7. Owner or render
    8. Phone number
  4. Who Gets Counted? Every household. Everyone living at the address matters and everyone needs to be counted, including children. Babies born on or before April 1, 2020 are also counted.
  5. How do I Fill Out the Census? Once you receive your invitation in the mail, your household will be assigned an Identification Number that you can use to complete the Census online, by phone or request to have a paper Census sent to you.
  6. How is Census Information Used? Being counted helps communities:
    1. Create jobs
    2. Provide housing
    3. Fund K-12 education
    4. Prepare for emergencies
    5. Build schools, roads, hospitals and libraries
