Genesee Health Plan Hosts MiCHWA Community Health Worker (CHW) Certificate Program

Genesee Health Plan is honored to host a series of Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance (MiCHWA) approved classes for the MiCHWA Community Health Worker Training Program!

This training will be held in-person from January 6th, 2026 – March 5th, 2026, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-4:30pm. A hands-on training course led by our expert CHWs, participants will receive the state-approved CHW certification after completing 126 training hours, including 25 hours for independent study. This training will cover:

• CHW role in public health and public health system
• Legal and ethical responsibilities 
• Navigating community resources 
• Communication styles and culture responsiveness
• Teaching and capacity building
• Coordination, documentation, and reporting
• Healthy lifestyles
• Behavioral health, substance use and disorders
