You only need to get the flu shot every other year.

FALSE: Getting the vaccine each year provides protection against the most current strains of the flu.

You can spread the flu even if you’re feeling well.

TRUE: Twenty to thirty percent of people carrying the influenza virus have no symptoms.

You cannot catch the flu from going out in cold weather without a coat, with wet hair or by sitting near a drafty window.

Free Drive-Thru Flu Immunization Event
Friday, October 13, 2017
3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Genesee Health Plan
2171 S. Linden Road, Flint

Protect yourself and your family by getting your flu vaccination. The Genesee Health Plan is making it easy by hosting its Fourth Annual Drive-Thru Immunization Event. Attendees can roll down their window, roll up their sleeve and roll into one of GHP’s heated drive-in service bays to receive their flu shot. Flu shots, additional vaccinations and health resources will also be available inside the GHP office.  Additionally, the Genesee Health System (GHS) Mobile Mental Health Unit will be on site as a resource for attendees.  There will also be a representative from Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) available to inspect children’s car seats and schedule full car seat assessment appointments for attendees to return to the GHP office at a later date for a full inspection.

If residents are unable to attend, they can obtain a flu vaccination from their physician, during an upcoming immunization event, or at a number of health centers and pharmacies throughout Genesee County. Vaccinations are covered by the Genesee Health Plan, Healthy Michigan and the Michigan Health Insurance Marketplace (ACA).
