Times are tough. More Michigan residents than ever need help with everything from food to house payments to medical bills. One number is all they need to call: 2-1-1 for Central Michigan 2-1-1. Simply dial 2-1-1 which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for additional resources in Genesee County.

Central Michigan 2-1-1 is also available online at centralmichigan211.org and contains a database of community resources in Genesee County.

Rides to Wellness

Rides to Wellness is a comprehensive non-emergency medical transportation program that provides mobility management, door-to-door service, and same day service to riders going to medical or other health and wellness-related appointments. Rides to Wellness is open to all passengers of the general public who reside in the MTA’s service area.

Rides to Wellness Partners:

Genesee County Department of Veterans Services – offer FREE door-to-door, same day, or pre-scheduled transportation to qualifying veterans, their spouses or surviving widows

Genesee Health Plan – Offers FREE rides to health and wellness destinations for our Spanish-speaking clients. Call the Health Navigator: 810-339-6389

American Cancer Society – MTA partners with American Cancer Society through the Road to Recovery program. Clients who may qualify for ACS services should contact American Cancer Society directly at 810-733-3703.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Don’t let your lack of wheels keep you from getting to your doctor appointment, the pharmacy, grocery store, Flint Farmers’ Market, or Help Center. MDHHS has partnered with MTA Flint to offer FREE rides to health and wellness destinations.

Vets to Wellness

Riders can travel to locations throughout Genesee County, as well as select out-of-county destinations. No longer will a lack of transportation keep local veterans from getting to doctor’s appointments, the pharmacy, the grocery store, farmers’ markets and other community resources. Call the Genesee County Veterans Services Office to establish eligibility: 810-257-3068 To qualify, veterans must be honorably discharged from military service and a resident of Genesee County.

Genesee County Home Improvement and Urgent Repair Program

Genesee County Home Improvement Program

This program provides qualified homeowners with a Deferred Payment Loan (DPL) to make needed repairs to their homes without monthly payments. Repairs can include roofing, windows, furnaces, well, electrical, plumbing repairs, and more.

Urgent Repair Program

This program provides qualified homeowners with a Deferred Payment Loan (DPL) for a repair deemed urgent by a Genesee County Rehabilitation Specialist. Repairs are limited to lack of water, heating system failure, septic issues, or a deficient roof.

Participation will be limited to one time, on a first come first serve basis until funds run out each year. Homeowners must meet designated income guidelines and live in Genesee County outside the city of Flint (the cities of Clio, Davison, and the villages of Lennon and Otter Lake do not participate).
