August 22, 2017
The Genesee Health Plan and our friends at Burton Parks and Recreation invite families and community members to “Be Our Guest” for a FREE showing of Disney’s Live Action “Beauty and the Beast” during this year’s Movies in the Park on Aug. 26. Activities begin at 7 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk at the Burton Eagles Club, 3317 E. Bristol Road.
Over the last three years, we have partnered with Burton Parks and Recreation to bring this fun, relaxing and healthy summer event to our community. Last summer we presented a Live Action showing of Cinderella and in 2015 we presented Frozen. Movies in the Park attracts hundreds of community members each year.
If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend with your family, here are five reasons to join us for Movies in the Park:
1. Family fun for everyone!
Community members of all ages are invited to join us for an enchanting evening filled with family-friendly activities. In addition to the movie showing, we will also host a safety corner with a fire engine, police cruiser and ambulance. Free snacks will be available. Children can also participate in a craft corner, play in a bounce house and meet a princess or superhero!
2. It’s a fun and healthy summer activity.
There’s no better way to spend a summer night than outside with your children, family and friends. In fact, research shows there are a number of benefits to spending time outside including improved mood and memory, reduced risk of nearsightedness in children and improved concentration for children. If you’re looking for a healthy activity outdoors, then bring your blankets and chairs and join us for an evening under the stars and enjoy the fresh air.
3. Photos with princesses and a superhero.
Did we mention a few special guests will be joining us for this year’s Movies in the Park? Attendees can attend a meet and greet with princesses and a superhero! Our special guests will also be available for photo opportunities, so bring your best smile!
4. Discover your love for reading.
Princess Belle, the book-loving heroine in “Beauty and the Beast,” is known for her passion for reading and learning. We encourage children and families to pick up a good book like Princess Belle and stop by the Flint Public Library or visit a Genesee District Library location to sign up for a free library card or attend a reading event.
5. It’s free!
The best part of Movies in the Park is that it’s free for everyone! There will also be free parking at the Burton Eagles Club and additional parking at C & M Wire Rope & Supply Co. located just east of the Eagles Club at 3347 E. Bristol Road. Event updates will be posted on our Facebook page and website.
