Genesee Health Plan and Sovita Credit Union Announce 9th Annual Health Heritage Essay Contest Winners

August 7, 2024

The Genesee Health Plan (GHP) announced the winners of the 9th Annual Health Heritage Essay Contest, sponsored by Sovita Credit Union! Winners were invited to the GHP office to receive a framed certificate and gift card celebrating their award-winning essays and to meet President and CEO, Jim Milanowski, and Community Health Worker Coordinator, Sherika Finklea.

Each year, students in Genesee County in grades 5-13 are asked to submit an essay reflecting on their family’s health history, and how healthy habits or future health-related goals will impact their current and future health. This contest creates an opportunity for students and their families to discuss health conditions that may be passed down through generations, as well as establish and maintain healthy goals for the future.

We would like to thank Sovita Credit Union for their continued partnership, the teachers and family members that encouraged students to enter this contest, and the students that worked so hard on these essays. We look forward to the upcoming 10th Annual Health Heritage Essay Contest, kicking off in February 2025!
