Genesee Health Plan client called Community Navigator because they were unable to get their medications from the pharmacy, which stated was not covered by the GHP Formulary. Community Navigator worked with the pharmacy and discovered that the client was prescribed an allergy medication that is also over the counter. The pharmacist said the client could substitute with 2 capsules of OTC medication. Community Navigator informed client and mailed client a GoodRX card which saved the client $50 on prescriptions.
Community Navigator completed a Medicaid application for a gentleman that was released from Prison in October of 2020. Client contracted COVID-19 the same week and was hospitalized at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Hospital employee gave client an emPOWER Genesee flyer. Client called Community Navigator and was able to get client’s Medicaid approved with the help Genesee Health Plan MDHHS worker. Client went home that same week and was approved for the Food Assistance Program through MDHHS.
