FLINTGenesee Health Plan (GHP) provided over 30 COVID-19 vaccinations including boosters and 1st and 2nd doses to county residents at its December Drive-Thru Vaccine event held on Friday, Dec. 10.

Genesee County residents began lining up at 2:30 p.m. to participate in the event by rolling down their window and rolling up their sleeve to receive the vaccine from their vehicle. The Genesee Community Health Center provided COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.

Vaccinations are covered by the Genesee Health Plan, Healthy Michigan Plan (Medicaid), and the HealthCare.Gov Marketplace (ACA).

“This second drive-thru vaccine event and its success would not be possible without the support of our incredible community partners like Genesee Community Health Center.” “At GHP, we aim to provide the best health care information to Genesee County residents to assist them in making informed health decisions, considering what’s best for them and their family,” said E. Yvonne Lewis, director of outreach at GHP.

The Drive-Thru Vaccine event was supported by Genesee Community Health Center, Genesee County Influenza/Immunization Education Partnership, Genesee County Health Department, Genesee Health Plan, Hamilton Community Health Network, Health Alliance Plan, Healthy Flint Research Coordinating Center, Hurley Medical Center, National Center for African American Health Consciousness, Sanofi Pasteur, and Walgreens.

The Drive-Thru Vaccine Event was in recognition of the National Influenza Vaccination WeekDecember 5-11, 2021. This week is a call to all Americans 6 months and older to get their annual flu vaccine if they have not already. Since COVID-19 and flu could spread simultaneously, this week will serve to remind people that there is still time to get a flu vaccine to protect against flu illness and serious flu complications, such as worsening of chronic conditions or pneumonia.
